My Hart Family Story
I am Diana Hart, the eleventh of twelve children born to my remarkable parents, Stu Hart and Helen Hart. Growing up in the Hart House in the outskirts of southwest Calgary, our home and large acreage was always filled with love and loyalty, not only to our family, but also to the wrestling business and the promotion, Stampede Wrestling, which operated all year round from within the house. We were blessed with lots of family, lots of animals, lots of athletes and lots of love. My parents were pillars of the wrestling world—my dad, Stu and my mom Helen founded Stampede Wrestling, which grew to become an international and very influential force in professional wrestling as it grew to what it has become today.
 

The basement at the Hart House became quite well-known as the Dungeon. For decades, it was a regular hub for training wrestlers, many of whom went on to become wrestling superstars, from Japan to WWE, from Europe to the South Seas.  My parents’ vision and values fostered a culture of loyalty, unity, and affection that shaped not only their children but also their grandchildren.
 

I cherish whole-heartedly my place as #11 and also that I am the baby girl among my 12 siblings, surrounded by the vibrant activity and camaraderie that defined our big family. Stampede Wrestling, in conjunction with my mom and dad’s unselfish mindset to want all who they helped to find fulfilment and success, cultivated for decades, international and aspiring athletes and characters to our doorstep at the Hart House. It was also at the Hart House that I first met, and later married the one and only, Davey Boy Smith, the British Bulldog. Our wedding at the Hart House in October of 1984 was also the celebratory farewell to Stampede Wrestling, which at that time had been sold to the WWE, and was a pivotal moment in wrestling history and for my family.

Through triumphs and tragedies, our family’s love for athletics, wrestling, and animals has been a constant source of inspiration. The Hart legacy is a testament to the power of family, and my chapter as Diana Hart—the eleventh child—is one filled with affection, appreciation, blessings and grit that was always in our home of champions and Harts. I am so proud of my family and how much they have accomplished and helped me to be where I am at right now.
